Course Description
An overview of various industrial processes, their design, and operation. Topics covered include a history of industry since the industrial revolution, quality control concepts, and various industrial processes, such as general manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical processes, and high technology systems, such as clean room design.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: a) Describe how industrial processes have evolved in the past few centuries b) Understand the importance of energy and resource availability in the design of an industrial process c) Understand how work flow and machine/human interactions are involved in how an industrial process is set up and designed d) Describe the concepts behind quality control systems that exist, such as ISO 9000, statistical process control, etc. e) Understand the key aspects of various industrial and manufacturing system operations
