Students will be able to analyze the causes and effects of large-scale disasters using an all-hazards framework and evaluate patterns, strategies, and failures in emergency management by comparing multiple disaster case studies.
Students will be able to develop and deliver structured written and oral analyses of disaster events that clearly communicate key lessons learned, stakeholder roles, and management implications to diverse audiences.
Students will be able to interpret how disaster impacts are influenced by social vulnerability, public health infrastructure, and cultural context, and apply ethical reasoning to propose equity-focused improvements to disaster response strategies.
Students will be able to collaborate with peers to synthesize case study findings, facilitate group discussions, and integrate diverse feedback into team-based presentations and debriefings.
