Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business


Course Description

Explores the intersections of law and business at a broad level with the aim of building a general understanding of how legal systems and contemporary legal issues affect businesses. Students will develop their abilities to (a) identify and understand legal issues in a dynamic business environment and (b) communicate more effectively with legal counsel.

  • Students will be able to explain the origin, purpose, and mechanics of various legal processes and the effects the legal processes have on businesses.
  • Students will be able to utilize appropriate legal terminology to facilitate effective communication between business professionals, compliance officers, and legal counsel.
  • Students will be able to recall requirements of various legal theories in multiple areas of the law.
  • Students will be able to determine the potential risk of legal liability in new scenarios based on facts presented and requirements of various legal theories in multiple areas of the law.
