Course Description

United States history through cliometrics, which applies economic theory and econometrics to historical data. The course draws on recent cliometric research as well as on more traditional studies of economic history.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is for students to learn how the students learn how economic theory and econometrics can improve our understanding of American economic development. The material combines economic analysis and historical data. Students are expected to demonstrate their ability to economic reasoning and methods to study important issues related to American development over time. The course adds a temporal dimension to the study of economics.
