Course Description
An introduction to the reporting and writing competencies necessary to sports event coverage. The course also will include discussion of the role sports journalism plays in the 21st-century media landscape, the interplay between reporters and sports entities, and contemporary issues in sports journalism.

Course Objectives
Students will understand the steps and journalistic elements in covering a sports event. Students will be well-versed in contemporary issues in sports journalism and the roles of reporters and sources. They will develop perspectives on the fast-changing landscape of sports media as well as the ethical responsibilities of journalists and sports media. Outcomes: Students will be able to cover sports events, from advance preparation to keeping statistics to deadline interviewing and writing.
