Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to incorporate language and culture knowledge into interdisciplinary courses or discipline- specific study and research. The emphasis of this course is to develop meaningful content-focused language use outside traditional language classes. Students will be presented with integrative studies of diverse aspects of the “Hispanic world” in the context of different disciplines, such as History, Anthropology, Diaspora Studies, Music, Human Geography, Journalism. The instructor will have the choice of offering the class in Spanish or English, but students will do readings and turn in assignments and exams in Spanish. Thus, students will foster, maintain and enrich their language abilities while acquiring discipline-specific knowledge.
