Course Description
Funding proposal development for foundation and government agencies. Conceptualizing innovative projects that address societal needs, identifying funding sources, and developing proposals that follow agency guidelines, including a literature review, need for the project, approach, timeline, and budget.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Undergraduate students will develop a 10-page funding proposal
suitable for submission to a non-governmental agency. Graduate
students will develop a 20-page funding proposal for a United
States Federal Government funding agency using an actual
request/call for proposals/applications as the guideline and
grading rubric.

Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to: Understand the logic and habits of successful grantseeking. Conceptualize a project for further development in education (formal, informal, and non-formal). Choose an appropriate market (government or foundation) for funding needs. Identify and obtain a request for proposal (RFP) or call for applications (CFA) suitable for project ideas. Identify appropriate literature and conduct a review to support the need for the project. Write a 10- to 20-page funding proposal including the following sections: Introduction, background, project goals and objectives, capability statement, methods, management plan including personnel and evaluation, budget and time line, 100-word abstract, references, and appendices. Peer-review of completed proposal.
