Course Description
An in-depth exposure to the role of media in sports organizations and event production, with hands-on experience in work performed by sports communication staff. The course also will explore the evolving relationship between sports communication and media coverage of sports.

Course Objectives
Students will learn about contemporary issues in media relations, the scope and responsibilities of media relations in working with sports media outlets, and event production for sports communications. Outcomes: Students will demonstrate competencies in the following areas: season preparation, event preparation, production of media information, credentialing and media logistics, event management, and production of event media (news releases and updates, social media, visual content, notes, quotes, statistics and results).
