Students learn to collaborate on a research project and gain hands-on experience in statistical collaboration. In-class instruction develops biostatistical consulting skills to formulate analyses, interpret results, present findings, and write reports for intended audiences. Current literature on statistical consulting is also reviewed.

Students will be able to describe the elements of the ethical treatment of human subject's research.
Students will be able to organize and conduct biostatistical collaboration meetings with researchers.
Students will be able to formulate and implement a data analysis plan based on study objectives, the study design, and data provided by the researchers.
Students will be able to present clear and concise oral and written reports of the statistical data analyses to various audiences, including statistical team members and non-statistician researchers.
Topical Outline
Students will provide statistical consulting on applied problems in public health and biomedicine, including data analysis. Written and oral reports detailing the results of those analyses will be presented at the end of the semester. In addition, topical discussions will be carried out on:

Systematic ways to plan and execute effective statistical collaborations
Critical Evaluation of Objectives and Data
Formulating a statistical analysis plan
Data Organization and Summary
Conduction data analysis
