Innovative pharmacy services beyond traditional dispensing practices. Emphasis will be placed on identifying and evaluating new services, new businesses, and a different way to do “business.”

Course Objectives

1) Monitor for trends to identify business opportunities 2) Build a business case for an opportunity by: a. Assessing market feasibility: who, what, where, when b. Conducting a SWOT analysis on an opportunity (external and internal factors) c. Assessing financial feasibility for an opportunity 3) Implement and launch a new business venture


Topical Outline

Module 1: Identifying Opportunities a. Survey current issues/opportunities in pharmacy found in the media (e.g., new technologies/medicine) b. Compare pharmacy opportunities in different states Module 2: Assessing Opportunities a. Assess market feasibility b. Conduct SWOT analysis (internal and external factors) c. Assess financial feasibility Module 3: Implementing Venture a. Discuss implementation strategies for new products/services
