Course Objectives
The course objectives are to provide students with the opportunity for in-depth study of Korean language, literature, and culture in consultation with a faculty member; to enhance the students' understanding of Korean humanities through intensive language learning, discussion of literary works and cultural issues with an individual faculty member; and to improve the students' communication skills through regular oral presentations and expository writing assignments. Typically, students meet at least weekly with an individual faculty member and write an extended paper or a series of papers on the course readings.
Topical Outline
Topics vary with the individual series of readings determined by the faculty member and student. Readings can focus on very specific topics in Korean humanities. Generally, the readings will be in areas not covered by regularly offered courses.
