Course Objectives
This course is intended for students who wish to explore in further depth an area of genetics under the guidance of a faculty member. Readings can be from the primary or secondary literature and the student must meet with the faculty member for at least 2 hours per week to discuss the reading. The expected learning outcomes are that the student will gain knowledge about the area of genetics under study and be able to ask pertinent questions about the field. The student should acquire an understanding of the context of the reading in the broader field of genetics. The student should develop a critical approach to reading the literature and be able to communicate, summarize and evaluate the content of the literature read.
Topical Outline
Each instructor will construct an individual syllabus covering the topics covered, the reading and the assignments expected. These will vary from instructor to instructor.
