Course Description
Introduction to phonetics and phonetic transcription as relevant to speech-language pathology practice in the United States. Emphasis will be on the production and transcription of speech sounds used in standard American English.

Course Objectives
Students will be able to: a. Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the speech sound system of American English b. Develop skills for phonetically transcribing speech samples c. Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the impact of individual differences, dialectal and cultural variations, and disorders on speech sound production.
