Course Description
Introduction to the theory, process, and professional issues related to the profession of Audiology. Topics include the assessment and diagnosis of hearing/balance disorders, familiarization to the disorders of the auditory-vestibular system, and intervention strategies used to meet the needs of individuals with hearing/balance issues across the lifespan.

Course Objectives
Students will be able to: • delineate the steps in an Audiologic Evaluation; • read and analyze audiogram; • identify the symptomology of common ear/vestibular disorders and relate those disorders to the audiologic evaluation; • delineate factors contributing to hearing loss and identify strategies for hearing loss prevention; • define basic concepts of Aural/Audiologic Rehabilitation; • describe current audiologic treatment strategies, including amplification systems, cochlear implants, and communication enhancement therapies.
