Course Description
Ethical guidelines that govern the practice of behavior analysts, as well as historical issues that have given rise to these ethics. This course satisfies the Behavior Analysis Certification Board’s requirements for ethics training.

Course Objectives
Students completing this course will be able to: 1. Explain the qualifications and expectations for professional/ethical conduct of those training to become BCBAs. 2. Explain and follow the expectations of the BACB in regard to: a. Guidelines for Responsible (Ethical) Conduct for Behavior Analysts (4th edition), and b. the BACB Fourth Edition Task List of expectations for behavior analysts, especially its ethics-related elements. 3. Demonstrate an increased understanding of ethical requirements within a function-based approach to problematic behavior displayed by clients, including by a. writing ethically appropriate behavior plans, b. explaining how to provide ethically appropriate training and supervision of other persons who work with their client, and c. demonstrating appropriate consideration of positive approach to behavior change. Be able to connect these activities to ethical practices and evidence-based practices in the work environment. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of BACB ethical guidelines for working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as any specific guidelines as they relate to student population(s) of interest.
