Student Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to compute, visualize, and interpret basic descriptive statistics for quantitative and categorical variables.
Students will understand basic probability and how to use the normal and binomial distributions.
Students will be able to make inferences about proportions and means for one and two sample data via hypothesis tests and confidence intervals, and they will learn how to compute and interpret chi-square tests for two-way tables.
Students will be able to estimate and interpret correlation coefficients and simple linear regression models.
Topical Outline
This course will cover principles of sampling, descriptive statistics, basic probability, binomial and normal distributions, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing about means and proportions for one and two samples, chi-square tests, correlation, and simple linear regression.
