Course Description

Common human diseases and their pathophysiology (at the cell, tissue, organ, and system levels). Emphasis on the etiology of the disease, the symptoms, diagnosis, and classification. Introduction to drugs used to treat these diseases.

Course Objectives

Course-Level Objectives: For each pathology covered, you should be able to do the following: 1. Describe the most common diseases associated with each pathology 2. List the symptoms associated with each disease 3. Describe and understand the clinical tests used to diagnose and assess each disease, including the appropriate laboratory values 4. Know the basic pharmacotherapy used to treat each disease discussed, including both the drug and non-drug approaches
