Introduces students to the department of Plant Biology and provides an overview of plant-based solutions to societal and environmental challenges. It is intended for students considering plant-oriented careers in biotechnology, genomics, and ecological and environmental sciences.

At the end of the course, students should be able to apply their lessons to the selection of their future UGA college courses and initiation of other professional development activities such as independent research.
Topical Outline
Activities in this class will focus on exploring plant-based solutions to societal and environmental challenges, including topics such as Biofuels, Genetically Modified Organisms, Food Security, Invasive Species, Conservation and Climate Change. The focus will be on identifying current challenges and plant-based solutions, exploring scientific careers associated with those plant-based solutions, and preparing for those careers through coursework, skill development, and independent research in labs here at UGA.
