Course Description

Basic techniques, research methods, strengths, and limitations of financial statement analysis. Computer analysis of financial data to predict earnings and other financial ratios. Use of these techniques to value equity securities and to predict takeover targets, future debt ratings, and bankruptcies.

Course Objectives

The purpose of the course is to provide you with tools to analyze and exploit information in corporate financial statements. The course will show you how to use the information in financial statements for valuation and other economic decisions. The course will also help you understand and analyze the issues that corporate managers face as they design and implement financial reporting strategies, increasing your ability to detect and undo the effects of earnings management. The framework developed in this course will enhance analytical skills for all students interested in improving their ability to read and analyze financial statements.
