Current theories, concepts, and issues associated with the psychology of work motivation, job attitudes, and engagement. The interrelationship between these topics and organizational leadership will be covered as well as current applications for diagnosing and improving organizations.

Course Objectives
1. Explain and integrate the content and process theories of work motivation, particularly need theories, cognitive theories, and reinforcement theories 2. Model the antecedents and consequences of job attitudes, especially the impact to behavior on the job 3. Awareness of the research findings and best practice applications for addressing work motivation issues, including goal setting, job design, incentives, and participative decision-making 4. Recognize the importance of effective selection, training, leadership, environment, and organizational support practices to driving motivation and engagement 5. Design measures of job attitudes to diagnose problems in organizations 6. Develop and implement ongoing employee or customer engagement survey systems 7. Recognize the key drivers of engagement unique to an organization via diagnostic data 8. Be able to anticipate and overcome common obstacles in survey administration 9. Utilize survey results to recommend appropriate solutions for improvement and ensure follow-through in client organizations 10. Practice survey design, implementation, and action planning techniques 11. Identify opportunities to integrate data from multiple sources within an organization to generate innovative insights for improving motivation and engagement 12. Recognize issues related to current workforce trends and innovative solutions in technology and applied practices
