Course Description

A survey of the gross structure of the human body accompanied by laboratory cat dissection. The course is intended for upper- level undergraduates preparing for careers in the biomedical sciences.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will: 1. Understand the anatomical position. 2. Know anatomical terms identifying orientation planes and directions. 3. Be familiar with basic techniques of anatomical dissection. 4. Know and identify the muscles, as well as the action, origin, insertion, blood supply and innervation of the muscles of the back, thorax, upper and lower limbs, neck, head, and pelvis. 5. Know and identify the blood supply, innervation, and structures of the head, neck, thorax, and abdominopelvic cavities.
