Project Management


Course Description

Aspects of project management with regard to leadership, managerial processes, and tools essential to successful project completion. Service-learning project includes application of skills and knowledge learned in the course. Hands-on project resulting in the conceptualization, design, prototyping, and development of a software system for an external/internal client.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to understand the basic concepts and techniques for managing projects.
  • Students will be able to understand specific problems and issues in managing IS development projects.
  • Students will be able to recognize problems involving communicating with clients, team management, project scope containment, delays, and cost overruns.
  • Students will develop skills in leading, managing, and controlling projects.
  • Students will be able to apply these techniques and perspectives to a real-world project within which students use the skills and knowledge learned in the course.
