Course Description

Survey of architecture, interiors, and furniture styles for use in the entertainment design industry from ancient civilization through contemporary design.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will prepare two summary presentations of the architectural features, interior design/furnishings, and ornamentation of select historical periods throughout the semester.

Course Objectives

1. Provide students with an understanding of period architecture, interior design, furniture, and decoration. 2. Students interpret changes in architecture and decoration based on sociological changes in societies. 3. Students develop skills in researching period analysis for entertainment design purposes. 3. Students apply period researching skills to their personal design processes as they complete projects in entertainment design.
