Principles of self-regulated learning in professional development and application to the formation of professional learning communities centered around the use of technology in the classroom.

Course Objectives

Students will: 1.define and describe self-regulated learning for adult learners, particularly with regard to the use of current and emerging technologies for learning. 2.engage in ongoing professional learning communities to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge with a focus on technology integration. 3.explore the world of online courses and communication technologies (e.g., Professional Learning Units (PLUs); Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs); other formal professional learning experiences). 4.create a professional learning plan that spans the next three years and is individualized to each student’s needs. The plan will integrate a variety of online courses and communication technologies explored in #3 above. 5.complete one portion of their professional learning plan. 6.conduct a learning activity that integrates newly acquired knowledge and models and facilitates technology-enhanced learning experiences. 7.engage in ongoing critical self-reflection about their professional learning, dispositions, and growth.
