Course Description
Students will learn about current research topics in statistics. Students will attend departmental colloquia and other presentations concerning research. In addition, students will meet with individual faculty members to discuss their current research activities and open problems in statistics.

Course Objectives
Students will learn about current research topics and open problems in statistics. Students will attend weekly departmental colloquia and additional research-oriented talks by departmental faculty. In addition, students will meet with graduate faculty in the Department of Statistics to discuss their areas of research expertise, current research activities and open problems. Students are expected to read statistical research papers, be active participants in research-oriented discussions with faculty, and prepare a report summarizing some of the research topics to which they have been exposed during the semester. Students will gain an appreciation for the frontiers of statistics to complement their other course-work, which deals primarily with the core of the field.
Topical Outline
Topics will vary from semester to semester, but will include topics of current research activity in the field of statistics.
