Course Objectives
An understanding of the planning process as it relates to comprehensive and land use planning. Knowledge of implementation tools (i.e., zoning, subdivision regulations, capital improvements program, other ordinances) and their impact on physical landscapes and health conditions of urban citizens. Knowledge of various design theories and principles and their practical applications to healthy urban spaces. Practical skills in writing and visual communication. Along with the classroom lectures the analysis techniques will focus on the use of current technology such as GIS applications specifically design for landscape architects. This aspect of the class will be handled in the two hour lab section.
