Course Description

A survey of knowledge and analyses of primary literature through lectures, student projects, and presentations to prepare students for graduate-level studies in life sciences. The main focus is on eukaryotic cell biology, with emphasis on cell signaling, cytoskeleton, cell cycle, and cell differentiation.

Course Objectives

Students will achieve: 1) understanding of the current state of knowledge in eukaryotic cell biology 2) training in the genetic, biochemical, molecular, and cellular approaches in application to eukaryotic cell biology 3) exposure to landmark and current literature in cell biology These objectives will be achieved through lectures, discussions, class projects, and reading of primary literature.
