Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: • Describe the impact of obesity on the healthcare environment. • Demonstrate an understanding of the process of formulating public health policy. • Demonstrate an understanding of current policies designed to combat obesity. • Analyze the financial impact of obesity on healthcare costs. • Compare the financial impact of obesity on taxpayers and private industry. • Illustrate the challenges of crafting public health policies to reduce the prevalence of obesity.
