Course Description
Intensive study of the Italian language, culture, and society at the intermediate level through cultural activities (site visits, interaction with Italian community, living language workshops, conversation exchange, study and discussion of authentic content) which relate directly to material introduced in Accelerated Intermediate Italian taken in Cortona, thus enhancing and facilitating its acquisition.

Course Objectives
This laboratory is designed for students who are enrolled concurrently in Accelerated Intermediate Italian in Cortona and are building from that content to enhance their achievement of an intermediate level of Italian proficiency, as well as acquire knowledge and understanding of Italian culture and society directly through cultural activities, including site visits, conversations with native speakers, living language workshops/laboratories, interaction with the Italian community, study and discussion of authentic cultural content. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have: -conversed with native speakers; -reflected upon in writing and/or in oral presentation about visits to sites relevant to Italian culture and society; -read about and discussed the Italian city, Regionalism, multiculturalism in Italy, youth culture and leisure in Italy, the relevance of food-fashion-design in Italian culture, the Italian family and its evolution, and Italy’s relationship with its past and its future trends.
