Transition from College to Work and Adult Life


Course Description

Helps students explore their transition from college to adulthood through focus on preparation for future success in both career and personal life, including resume development, job-seeking skills, interviewing, networking, personal finance, dealing with stress/anxiety, selling yourself (branding), and maintaining work-family balance.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will research the literature to facilitate course sessions, complete an additional course project, and submit a written report on that project.

Course Objectives

Students will: • Articulate dimensions of self, values, and goals • Indicate personal dimensions of career adaptability • Distinguish the difference between self and vocation • Identify areas of skill development that may aid in transition • Identify financial values, goals, and future planning • Examine their collegiate experiences in terms of growth and transition • Develop an e-portfolio to identify, reflect upon, and evaluate class topics
