Course Description
The future of work, career trends, and the impact of intelligent machines on human employment. Workforce education necessary for future work, including career navigation, work ethic, and innovation. Course participants will research individual career trajectories and identify relevant trends and issues in their own fields of study.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students participating in this course will complete an
original research project using scholarly literature from their
own fields of study. Results of their work will be presented as a
research presentation or poster at a research conference or
meeting on campus or at a regional, national, or international
meeting of a professional association. Students will be
encouraged to affiliate with scholars from their own fields of
study through professional involvement and networking.

Course Objectives
Students will be able to: − Identify key trends and issues impacting employment in their own fields of study for five, ten, and fifteen years into the future. − Describe the current and anticipated impact of intelligent systems on the future of work in their own field of study. − Analyze news articles, electronic publications, media, and scholarly research to identify validity and relevance to the future of work. − Prepare recommendations for best practices in preparing for success in future work. - Describe a personal career trajectory that is consistent with forecasts and trends relevant to their own field of study. In addition, graduate students will be able to: − Identify significant streams of research relevant to the future of work − Conduct research on the future of work in a field related to their own course of study - Demonstrate effective communication skills in writing about and presenting results of original research
