Provides an overview of technologies essential to professional musicians in the 21st century. Meeting in the MuTec lab, this course offers hands-on instruction in a variety of relevant music software. Coursework is primarily creative projects, with some written examination on fundamentals.

Course Objectives
To become proficient with software tools relevant to a wide range of music professions and to grasp fundamental concepts of digital audio and music-related technology to help musicians stay engaged with developments in technology and adapt as new technologies emerge.
Topical Outline
Five units cover five software platforms for music engraving, MIDI sequencing and software instruments, audio recording and editing, mixing and digital signal processing, and finally a unit covering current online tools for musicians to disseminate their creative and scholarly work.
