The first part of the course focuses on microeconomics, with an emphasis on the basic decision problems faced by households and business managers. The second part develops the foundations of modern macroeconomic theory, with emphasis on its relevance for business managers and executives making decisions in an increasingly globalized world.

Course Objectives
The first part of this course is designed to help students understand how various economic entities allocate scarce resources to many competing needs and how these decisions are affected by the characteristics of markets and the broader economic and policy environment. The second part of the course prepares students to gain a better understanding of issues such as the determination of aggregate output, inflation, unemployment, and business cyles, as well as special topics such as government debt, financial crises, and exchange rates.
