Course Description
Theories, models, and practices of coaching to help adults in organization settings identify problematic behaviors and replace them with productive ones that improve communication, relationships, and leadership. Focus also on career issues faced by adults and implications for the workplace and HROD when coaching is used as an intervention.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: • Recognize and name key concepts and scholarship significant to coaching adults as a career development intervention. • Identify the role and evaluate competencies of executive coaches. • Compare and contrast different types of and audiences for organization coaching (managerial, business, peer, action learning, women, underrepresented groups, etc.). • Compare and contrast different theories and models of organization coaching. • State, discuss, and explain how individual, social, institutional, cultural, and other contextual factors affect executive coaching. • Identify the role and competencies of organization coaches. • Contrast organization coaching with other interventions (e.g., mentoring, counseling). • Identify and address individual and systemic barriers in organization coaching, such as sexism, racism, classism, and others. • Explain how organization coaching interventions and strategies benefit individuals and organizations. • Apply intervention theory and possible coaching interventions. • Synthesize the role of learning in organization coaching. • Engage in self-assessment and peer coaching as applied activities relevant to the course. • Discuss how organization coaching theory applies to your own experience.
