Course Description
The methods and practices of organization coaching. Students will prepare to coach practicum clients and practice with peer clients. Focus will be on mastering the process of coaching using assessments, giving feedback, selecting appropriate interventions, dealing with difficult clients, and developing a coaching toolbox.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: • Plan and complete a practicum coaching experience with a real client. • Contrast executive coaching with other interventions (e.g., mentoring, counseling). • Implement interpersonal and communication strategies for effective coaching (e.g., listening, asking questions, giving feedback, being direct). • Manage the coaching engagement (e.g., managing the coaching interaction, keeping the client focused, preparing for coaching, handling problems that arise during coaching). • Give and receive feedback. • Organize and implement executive coaching interventions such as assessment, feedback, questioning, and developing a coaching plan. • Identify and apply interventions appropriate for executive coaching. • Help client maintain changes and develop accountability checks. • Document coaching interactions with the practicum client in terms of steps followed, problems encountered, and self- assessment of your coaching strengths and weaknesses. • Engage in self-assessment and peer coaching while engaging in the practicum. • Plan assessment of organization coaching (tools, interventions, demonstrating impact). • Develop a toolbox of coaching interventions. • Develop a plan for continuing education as an organization coach. • Develop a plan for practicing organization coaching (internal and/or external).
