• Translational research and the development of a global perspective on interdisciplinary issues (biology, materials science, chemistry, and engineering) involved in biomaterials • Host reaction to medical implants and their evaluation • Common in vitro and in vivo testing methods used by FDA for medical implant evaluations • Applications of biomaterials (e.g., catheters, stents, vascular grafts, extracorporeal applications, wound healing dressings) • Commercialization and legal aspects of biomaterials
