Methods of archaeometric analysis including chronometric and instrumental techniques. Absolute age dating and characterization of archaeological materials by physico-chemical analysis.

Course Objectives
The course emphasizes topical applications of archaeometric techniques and basic description of the scientific principles underlying the particular analyses-physical and chemical.
Topical Outline
Historical background and example studies in archaeometry. Non- radioactive dating techniques, radioactivity and geochronology. Geochemical Analysis, data analysis: basic statistical methods, and remote sensing in archaeological prospection. Geophysics - Resistivity/Electromagnetic; Acoustic; Radar and Magnetic Methods.
