Special Topics in Korean Film


Course Description

Students will enhance their understanding and knowledge of Korean society, culture, and history by studying fictional and documentary films from Korea. Representative topics examined in this class include colonialism, post-colonialism, war, the national division, family, women’s lives, shamanism, Confucianism, Buddhism, modernization, and the impact of Globalization.

Course Objectives

Students will enhance their understanding and knowledge of Korean society, culture, and history in the context of globalization by studying a group of films on a selected theme. Students will also develop skills for film analysis. Students' performances will be assessed through presentations, writing assignments, and tests.
