Non-Traditional Format
Students will spend one semester gaining real-world work experience and training with a mentor or employee. The mentor will monitor hours worked by the student. Over the course of the semester, students are required to work a minimum of 135 hours for this 3-credit-hour internship. Students will be required to write a written report about the learning experience for approval by the student’s faculty advisory committee.

Course Objectives
The course is designed to provide experiential learning outlets for graduate students pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in the Department of Poultry Science. The objective of the internship program is to increase the student’s understanding of the application of scientific principles and management techniques within a business, clinical, or scientific setting as well as help the student to make important contacts in his/her field of study. The student will be required to provide a written report at the end of the semester detailing what was learned during the experience.
