Course Description
Teacher research, teacher inquiry, and publication of findings within discipline-specific communities of practice. This capstone course emphasizes translating research and theory into practice as well as the use of teacher inquiry methods, practitioner writing, and imaginative, standards-informed literacy teaching in a diverse range of contexts and settings.

Course Objectives
Students will: 1. Explore some of the history behind the roles of and scholarship of the “teacher-writer” (especially within our field of English/Language Arts). 2. Unpack and analyze mentor texts by a variety of teachers who write for a variety of audiences and purposes. 3. Create, revise, develop, and draft a piece of original work for an intended audience and purpose. 4. Explore a range of venues for and models of teacher writing. 5. Provide robust feedback (not commentary) on peer drafts in support of their needs and goals.
