Community forest ecology and tree biology subject matter coverage, including urban ecological systems, tree growth and structure, tree biomechanics, tree pests, and community invasive species.

Course Objectives
Students will: 1. be aware of and understand urban and community ecological components, associated human and land use demographics, and community geography. 2. be aware of and understand tree anatomy, morphology, water systems, essential elements, nutrition, physiology, biomechanics, and storm damage. 3. be aware of and understand tree identification systems, major tree pests identification, pest response, pest treatment, identification of invasive species. 4. be able to respond to subject matter questions in the field and in the classroom regarding community tree ecology, tree biology, and tree pest issues.
