Course Description

Plant growth and development emphasizing factors pertinent to economic plants. The physiological processes of growth, juvenility, maturity, leaf and shoot growth patterns, floral initiation and development, embryogenesis, fruitset, dormancy, and senescence. The effects of environment on plant growth and development.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to examine and discuss topics in plant growth and development, particularly issues that are pertinent to economic plants.
  • Students will be able to evaluate the physiological processes of growth, juvenility, maturity, flower initiation and development, embryogenesis, fruitset, senescence, dormancy, and environmental effects on growth and development using current review articles and the primary literature.
