Course Objectives
At the end of the course, students will be able to: - Explain basic concepts of epidemiology - Compare basic epidemiology methods and measures - Determine appropriate use of epidemiological concepts to investigate disease outbreaks - Collect and analyze data to make decisions during an outbreak - Evaluate basic principles of public health surveillance - Describe the importance of surveillance and its interpretation in public health - Demonstrate communication skills that may be used with various stakeholders during outbreaks - Assess the completeness and adequacy of a disease outbreak investigation - Evaluate the basic principles of a disease surveillance system - Differentiate between association and causality and apply these concepts to outbreak investigations
