Students will be exposed to a multitude of scientific disciplines, time management strategies, various learning styles, university support services, employment opportunities, and social clubs/organizations within the department of Crop and Soil Sciences.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify and summarize the primary research areas within the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences, including soil science, sustainable agriculture, precision agriculture, turfgrass management, and natural resource conservation.
  • Upon completion of this course, students will create a professional resume tailored to a specific job or internship, along with a personal brand (either a statement or infographic) showcasing their skills and experience in a unique way. They will also establish a professional online presence, including a LinkedIn profile and/or personal portfolio.
  • Upon completion of this course, students will develop and apply in-person and online networking strategies to build professional connections. They will also create a career development plan outlining short-term and long-term career goals with actionable steps for achieving them, including opportunities for continued skill development.
  • Upon completion of this course, students will be able to describe different time management strategies for managing tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
