Course Objectives
Analyze selected current and past trends and other social conditions which relate to the professional situation of teaching and the education of children. These trends will be analyzed by the students, along with a critical reaction to how they may affect elementary education.
Topical Outline
Characteristics of an effective teacher, gender and schooling, teacher expectations, educational reports, legal issues, school choice, disappearance of childhood, violence and child abuse, television and children.
