Course Objectives
This course provides students with a thorough understanding of the development of social institutions and customs among African Americans. Through a sociological assessment of the origins of social institutions and culture, particular attention is given to the ways social institutions intersect to provide styles, practices and patterns of living among African Americans in contemporary society.
