Course Description
Standards and techniques are introduced for communicating engineering designs through drawings and written communication. Visualization skills are developed using orthographic and isometric drawings and descriptive geometry. Engineering design will be introduced and practiced through the use of a final project.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Develop an understanding of the engineering discipline 2. Understand the need for engineering and mathematical sciences in engineering 3. Develop quantitative design criteria 4. Develop creative thinking skills and formulation of conceptual solutions 5. Instill logical steps of conceptual design evaluation 6. Reinforce the value of communication skills 7. Instill an understanding of the need to engage in life-long learning 8. Visualize and construct 2-dimensional drawings to scale 9. Construct and determine appropriate view selections for multiview orthographic projections to scale 10. Visualize and draw in 3-dimensional space 11. Generate 2-d orthographic projections from 3-d solids 12. Read and develop working drawings 13. Link the engineering design process and computer based graphic design 14. Use ANSI standards and conventions in generating engineering drawings
