Principles of FinTech

Analytical Thinking

Course Description

An operational and strategic examination of financial institutions, intermediaries, and innovative startups in payments, digital and mobile banking, alternative lending ("alt-finance"), wealth management, and insurance ("insur-tech"). Also examines the practices, business and revenue models, regulatory issues, and competitive opportunities as well as the challenges and threats FinTech firms must address.

  • Students will critically assess the impact of emerging financial technologies on banking and financial services by examining regulatory, ethical, and competitive implications.
  • Students will apply quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate FinTech business and revenue models, interpret real-world data, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Students will communicate complex FinTech concepts, analyses, and project outcomes through clear and professional written reports and oral presentations.
  • Students will work effectively in teams to identify, design, and implement innovative solutions to problems in the financial services industry while demonstrating leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Students will use creative and entrepreneurial thinking to design and present technology-enabled products, services, or strategies that create value in financial services.
