Course Description

A detailed examination of systems, tools, processes, and standards that facilitate communication, commerce, and infrastructure in the banking and finance industries. Students will also learn strategies for technology selection and adoption, risk assessment, vendor management, and other key skills for a rapidly-evolving finance and business landscape.

Student learning Outcomes

  • Students will assess the advantages, disadvantages, risks, and benefits from new technologies to make strategic recommendations about their potential adoption by FinTech companies and organizations.
  • Students will relate hands-on experience with key technologies used in the FinTech Industry, and share impressions of the usability and value of those technologies.
  • Students will demonstrate understanding of common terminologies and concepts relating to technologies and processes used by financial institutions and companies, and be prepared to participate in strategic planning conversations involving those technologies.
  • Students will describe the privacy and confidentiality risks created by the use of current and future financial technologies, and ways to mitigate those risks.
