Course Objectives

Overview of Israeli cinema. Students will acquire background knowledge of political, social, and cultural developments in 20th- and 21st-century Israel. The course will help students develop film and media literacy through critical analysis of films and the study of cultural and film theory. Students will analyze the meaning of and relationship between Israeli and other cinematic traditions and will explore and discuss various aspects of cultural globalization.
